Job Overview

Requirements/Experience:

  • The candidate must be a qualified Red Seal Boilermaker.
  • At least five years’ experience in a medium to heavy fabrication environment.
  • Experience in the manufacturing of vibrating and crushing machines advantageous.
  • The ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • The ability to use a variety of measuring instruments.
  • Proven track record in CO₂, Stick Welding and a Plasma Torch.
  • Knowledge of dumpier Levels.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Evaluating all engineering drawings and ensuring implementation according to fabrication specifications.
  • Analyzing diagrams and specification and cut all metal accordingly with the help of fabrication equipment.
  • Performing all fabrications and supporting tasks to the required fabrication tolerances.
  • Cutting, bending and shaping material as per the product requirements.
  • Locating and marking bending and cutting lines onto the work piece.
  • Marking off, drilling and punching holes.
  • Setting up and operating fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
  • Preparing material for welding by means of grinding, cutting and assembling.
  • Distinguishing between the various types of material in fabrication in preparation for the job.
  • Fabricating and tack welding components in preparation for welding.
  • Evaluating fabrication and adding stiffness for welding.
  • Performing work with the help of various hand and power tools.
  • Straightening parts and components after welding.
  • Removing of tack marks from components.
  • Using the grinder to remove slack and bevels from the welded work piece.
  • Completion and signing of the inspection report.
  • Ensuring that the work piece is welded strong enough prior to lifting it.
  • Using cutting torches and quick cutters correctly and in a safe manner.
  • Leveling jig tables and work pieces.
  • Evaluating finished products and perform quality checks on products.
  • Verifying the conformance of the work piece to specifications, using a range of measuring instruments.
  • Reporting any variances or defects by means of the quality management systems.
  • Performing modification and repair work if required.
  • Inspecting cutting torches, gauges, fittings and hoses for leaks.
  • Ensuring that the required Housekeeping and Health and Safety requirements are met.
  • Ensuring compliance to QMS standards.
