Job Overview

The ideal candidate will be required to provide clerical support to their Junior Accountants and Senior Accountant.

Requirements:

  • Matric essential
  • Bookkeeping qualifications acceptable
  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting advantageous, but not essential
  • Understanding of bookkeeping principles from source ledgers
  • Process driven
  • Attention to detail, accuracy
  • Communication skills, understanding of the English language is essential, ability to take an instruction and execute, ability to also feedback to jnr’s and snr’s confidently
  • Team player, this role requires a teamwork as the role will support other roles
  • Computer literate, excel proficiency, word, calendar, knows how to use a computer
  • Software proficient, easy learner of new software applications
  • Basic understanding of the concept of VAT and how to apply it in a general sense

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile cashbooks, format excel bank statements and import into accounting system.
  • Reconcile bank transactions, perform bank reconciliation to bank statements
    Accounts payable, capture purchase invoices into accounting system using various 3rd party purchase invoice administration software
  • Reconcile creditor payments, reconcile creditor accounts to creditor statements
    Expense reimbursements, capture employee expense reimbursements via multiple software platforms (Xero & Dext), prepare expense reports for payments
  • Accounts receivable, book sales invoices into accounting system, reconcile debtor payments, reconcile debtor accounts
  • Quotes, prepare quotes based on information provided
  • Purchase orders, prepare purchase orders based on information provided
  • Bank payments, prepare creditor payment batches for clients
  • Assist jnr and snr accountants with adhoc administration (filing on dropbox, prepare letters, calls to the tax offices etc)
